"The Fosters" is a photo essay celebrating the amazing men and women who open their homes and hearts to the dogs who are abandoned, unwanted, abused or just simply left behind through death or other life changes. I have such admiration for their courage and dedication to the welfare of these  vulnerable castoffs . 
   
      As a photographer, I want to capture the soul of this gift to each of these sweet dogs in need and to pay homage the rescue organizations who help facilitate the fostering relationships. Having only fostered two dogs, I know the dedication and sacrifice it can take.

     But the dogs themselves are the reward. They are so resilient and have what  it seems to be a boundless and a stunning capacity to move through trauma. They respond unabashedly  to kindness and care and move steadily into healing and trust,  and ultimately, into their forever homes.
