This series began after an enchanted walk through Cosm, visionary artist Alex Gray's retreat center in Wappinger, New York. I don't think it's a coincidence that what appeared that day was magical and began my fascination with all the small living and decaying things below my feet.

Found,
the fatal chaos of fallen limbs from former hemlock,
so often graced
with cardinal carmine
oceanic jay
dayglow finch
found,
in that dead tangle of splintered wood
lichen shards
blasted branch nodes,
yet, found
here, this morning, at eye level,
gragrance weighting the limb -
honeysuckle,
flowing still
from bumble bee yellow to cloud milk white
where honey waits to be pulled
by children
to the tips
of their egar tongues.
